In late 1999, four international wildlife conservationists flew into San Francisco to share their vision of a new organization that could respond quickly and effectively to wildlife poaching and habitat destruction around the globe. Even though we were working for four different organizations, we all shared a preference for rapid, action-based intervention in wildlife crises, followed by creation of long-term, sustainable solutions.
